The Central Lakes Trail is now
Minnesota's 23rd state trail and runs from Osakis to Fergus Falls. This scenic recreational
trail covers 55 miles through the
communities of Osakis, Nelson, Alexandria, Garfield, Brandon, Evansville, Melby, Ashby
and beyond to Fergus Falls.
The Central Lakes Trail is an all season recreational trail
that provides
a 14' wide bituminous surface for safe
off road non-motorized travel by biking, walking or rollerblading in
the spring , summer and fall. It will also provide safe permanent
routes for
snowmobiling in the winter (December-April). This
Minnesota tail offers beautiful scenery and an opportunity for families
to participate together in some great outdoor activities. It
also connects to the Lake Wobegon Trail which covers 60 miles from Osakis to
St. Joseph, Minnesota. With the connection of these two
trails, this is the longest paved trail system in Minnesota covering
over 122 miles.
The Osakis trailhead is located in the Osakis Information Center
building near the trail in historic downtown Osakis. There are
public restrooms available as well as refreshments, brochures, maps
and much more. There is also a large public parking lot to
park your vehicle while you are out enjoying the Central Lakes Trail
and the Lake Wobegon Trail. Be sure to stop by and check out
